great car... great choice
greetings folks,
i am brand new to this forum and actually own a 2000 bmw m coupe. i have only owned bmw m cars in my short life (m6, e36 m3, m coupe). this past weekend... i went with my dad to a bay area honda dealer and was able to test drive a used 2000 s2000. holy cow! this car rocks! it is really no slouch in the low end at all. the dealer let me take it on the freeway and down bayshore. i did not want to be too hard on the car... as i feel that one must respect anothers vehicle (unless it is a rental ;-))... but i was able to get to about 7500 rpms in third... and this thing wanted more. it almost begged to be pushed harder. it seemed to be on rails as we entered and exited the 101. i drove with the top down to get the full experience... and it was not that noisy or windy at all. it almost seems addicting to want to snick-snick the shifter. my drive lasted about 10 minutes. my dad lasted about 30 minutes. he loved it. please note that i am just an average driver that enjoys the thrill of owning a nice car... so i don't street race or track my car (i know, i know... many friends have suggested that an m car deserves to be tracked now and then). i am very happy to admit that i probably suck at launching, etc. however, i drove away from that dealership feeling that the s2000 is surely quicker and even feels more solid than the m cars that i have the fortune to own. yes... i too will soon be an s2000 owner.
you have all done excellent research and made a good choice in purchasing this car.
many thanks... nico
