Default great mileage

I just got 342 miles on a tank. I put in 89 octane, a bottle of octane booster, drove from Vegas to Phoenix and then quite a bit of additional and got 342 miles on the tank. I was pretty surprised as the road to Phx from Vegas is 2-lane in parts, has lots of downshifting to pass and I was moving pretty quickly (80-95 mph) the whole time. Top was up which allowed for better mileage.
When I filled up, I topped off to 12.48 gallons. Quick math tells me that I got 27.4 miles per gallon. Not bad for moving along at 80-95 (sometimes 100+) mph.

I'm interested to know the furthest others have gone on a tank???

I'd be lucky to get 240 miles on mine, even though most of my commute is freeway.

I guess I'm a little too lead footed.

27.4 mpg is pretty good, although not the higest that has been reported here. However, 342 miles on one tank is a lot. I don't think I've ever heard of anything even close. You're lucky you didn't run out of gas - the tank only holds 13.2 gallons. The typical amount I put in is in the 10 to 11 gallon range.

Was there any special reason you used 89 octane w/ a booster?

386.65 miles (projected) was my best mileage to date. That was doing 29.3 MPG.

My car has never broken 30MPG. There were times it could have, but some misfortune always thwarts my efforts to break this barrier. Of the two times it got close, once it picked up a nail in one of the rears and ran on low pressure for a good while. The second had me stuck in a SIG alert where all traffic on the freeway was stuck for about 2 hours just a few miles from the end of the drive.

i've heard octane boosters are like drugs for your car? they go down in perforance after the first time you put it in and run out? is there some truth to this?

I used 89 octane because gas in Vegas is VERY expensive ($2.29 for regular is what I saw) compared to Phx. So, I figured 89 w/ a bottle of octane booster would get me closer to what Honda recommends.
Apparently, this is not the way to go as someone on here said that octane booster isn't good stuff. Now that I'm back in Phx, I will stick w/ the 91.
Thanks for letting me know that 13.4 is the max that can be held. I've wondered what the limit is for awhile. I don't have any intensions of trying to put in 13+.

Best was 279 miles, 11.98 gallons for 23.3 MPG with more than 90% city driving and most trips were about 5 miles each.
