I appreciate all kinds of cars and I very much appreciate the time and dedication owners put into their cars as well. But when it comes to degrading the car to the point where the performance is inferior to stock, that is when I start to question because you lose the best of both worlds. It doesn't look good or perform like it's supposed to.

Those are exactly my sentiments as well. It's like saying something is stupid. Often times you're just expressing that what the person did was stupid, not that they necessarily are stupid. However, many people take it as a personal attack. Too many people just have thin skin and can't accept criticism. I guess too many people are raised though being told they're geniuses even though they're just average, so they get butt hurt and their ego gets bruised easily..

Turning an S2000 into a boulevard cruiser that can't navigate a speed bump is like putting a chastity belt on Sasha Grey. Huge waste of potential. I don't think that's tunnel vision, just common sense.

I kinda agree with this. For me it just depends on what car you're modifying. Trying to turn a civic into the world's greatest sports car is a waste just like turning and S2000 into a low rider is a waste.

OTOH, souping up your Corvette doesn't bother me at all... neither does slamming your '69 Impala to the ground.

I think what people have the biggest problem with is someone else taking something they consider special and not giving it the respect it deserves.

I think the conflict of tastes and style makes the entire internet more interesting. Things would be pretty boring if all we did here was stroke each other's ego.

Now if only there were a way to convey this message to a true muscle car enthusiast...
