Default Greetings! Just a few questions from a S2K newbie...

Hi,

Just bought a used S2000 recently from ChargedS2k from this form (which btw, is the best decision I think I've made). The car was very clean, and the engine runs great with the CT S/C.

I've been a fan of HondaVtec for years, and before this purchases I had a all motor Integ build from bottom up. So owning a "S" has been always a dream of mine... Except I made up my mind that I only wanted the "S" from 2001 so I can get the White with redblack interior. So I actually been searching for quite sometime now... Finally I've found the perfect one for the right price. (Thanks Jae!)

For now I do not have any performance mod planned in the near future, except for a DC2 blitz turbo timer (installed last night), and Toda fly wheel with an upgraded clutch which came with the car.

I know that there is a wealth of information here, and I've been doing a lot of searching(function), however I think I might be better off posting here too, as well as continuing reading the hundreds of results from the search results.

So here are the questions:

1. Transmission chatter.. This occurs somewhere between 3-2K RPM range as the car slows down while it's in gear. I believe there is a TSB for this issue, except for because my car is Supercharged, am I pretty much SOL from them doing any type of service recall work? If so, how much will I expect to pay out of pocket to fix this issue?

2. Hitting the rev limiter... So far I've only hit it twice on accident, with the S/C, the car hit redline a lot faster then I expected, and I'm still trying to learn/figure out the car. Do I have anything to worry about right now? Anything I have to check out? Trust me, I felt really bad because I want to baby this car and not destroy the engine on the first week of ownership. I have a different car for work and stuff.

3. Amuse gauge pods.. I'm interested in getting some Graddy Analog gauges, but I'm not sure where to order the Amuse gauge pods, and someone post a link? And what's a good price to pay for the pods and gauges. I'm interested in 60mm boost and oil pressure gauge.

4. Rims.. Any body got a set of used MF-10 they like to sell?? j/k... I know they are hard to come by but I will start saving my money for it.

Thanks in advance for all your help,

Honored and Humbled S2K owner
Brian

1. FYI -- TSBs are NOT recalls. They are informational bulletins put out by Honda so technicians know how to handle things if a customer complains. Once you are out of warrentee, forget about it completly. I have no idea how much this would cost you to fix.

2. That's what the rev limiter is for. As long as you hit it by accellerating up to it, your fine. If you downshift to the wrong gear, then the tranny can overrev the motor and then you are boned.

3. No idea

4. No wheels for sale from me.

brian- your tranny chatter might be normal... find another s owner near you and trade cars for a short ride so you can see what others sound like. you didnt say whether this was top up or down. if top up, it could be normal. if top down- then it prob should be fixed.
i have hit my rev limiter several times, especially right after break-in. at high speeds i dont like to look down (want to keep my eyes on the road)! i now know from the sound when to shift.

if you feel the rev limiter may be a problem, you may want to invest in a shift light, or MOIDFRY's shift beep, and VTEC indicator...do a search, you will find plenty of info on this, otherwise, search for MODIFRY on the member search, and go to any of his posts, then click on the link in his sig!!!

Just a thought. All of the photos I have seen for the Amuse pods have been on right hand drive cars. Heres a link to the Amuse website.http://www.webamuse.co.jp/s2000_materpanel.html

Thanks TEGSTEG, I noticed that too, so is SOS gauge pods our only options for running a dual gauge pod?
