Grille screen
After looking at all the posts on various grill screens I decided to make my own. I used #4 mesh stainless wire cloth that I had lying around from my race car. I removed the front bumper cover so I could get at the back of the grille. I cut the wire cloth (screen) with tin snips to size, bent the lower portion to follow the plastic air directors and tie wrapped it to them.
This material is the stainless screen discussed in the thread on Grille screens and is 66% open.
The job took a couple of hours, mostly spent taking the nose off the car and putting it back on.It isn't very hard to do I just took my time.
If you want to make one you can get the screen locally or at Pegasus auto racing (www.pegasusautoracing.com) in Wisconsin, part number 3642-24x36 for a 24x36 inch sheet. Price is $40.25. They are a very good company.I have bought a ton of stuff from over the last 10 years. They also carry a number of things that folks seem to be interested in, including all the Redline products,OMP replacement pedals, and something that I also put on the lower nose of my car, leading edge tape. The latter is a heavy clear or black vinyl tape designed for the leading edges of airplane wings to keep them from getting dinged. It does the same for cars.
