I've read from long time ago on here that owners in hot locations like Arizona see their temperature gauge at 4 bars when they have the center grilles. As soon as they take the grilles out, it's back to 3. So yeah, there may be a restriction of air flow.

Aww man... that's too bad. I was going to get one but if it will leave scratches then I don't know if I should...

Does anyone have one that hasn't scratched their bumper?
Like someone said, the scratches are unavoidable unless you trimmed the grille to the point where none of the perimeter touches the opening at all which means a little bit of gap all around. And also, you can try putting on a 3m film in that area, probably helps! I wish I put on a 3m film on the hood, bumper, etc as soon as I got the car, worth the investment if you ask me!

I personally have the grille mainly for protection against the condensor and radiators from rocks and crap.

They do for the side faux vents.
How could you design a grille similar to the Grille-tech grille or even the coast metal one to pervent damage to the radiator and still have full air flow.

I would imagine anything you put in front of the oem grill will impede on air flow. I just think there could be a design that won't be as restrictive as the currently available units. Like I said, a wider mesh pattern would provide for better, less restrictive air flow.
