Guess who is coming to Austin this weekend?
Yes, it's true. Sondra and I will be headed to Austin this weekend, my former town of residence and Sondra future town of residence. We will be heading to Kreuz's BBQ in Lockhart (my mouth is watering already, man, I love that place!) on Friday then Friday night we have plans to get together with as many of you as possible for brewskis, car chat, whatever. So, if you are game, let me know and we'll put you on the list!

Greg,
Just be sure you get to the 'right' Kreuz's. The old location has new proprietors, and the old proprieters have a new location. All this due to a falling out in the Kreuz household.
have fun, and get some of that marbled brisket for me!

Yea, I know of the family rift in the Kreuz family and we are going to the new location. The old one was such a dump, it had such character. And man, that beer was cold! The new location has the old ovens and that's the secret to that place...
I haven't been there in almost 4 years...I can't wait!

I guess Schatten's secret is out.
The wife and I would probably be up for it, but it depends on where. We have two grandkids with us.
Favorite BBQ joint: Cooper's in Llano or Opie's in Spicewood. Cooper's is a tad better, but Opie's is much closer. Tough choice. Both make it the same way. Could be cuz Opie's was started by a former Cooper's employee. Can't beat those 2" thick pork chops, sirloin steaks, ribs, chicken. Gotta clean the drool off my keyboard.

AH! The sausage at Kreuz's. The old lady who has been there since dirt; "Bread or crackers?". Hope to see you guys while you're here. And on the BBQ trail, I certainly agree about Cooper's. Opie's is run by some former Cooper's cooks that sort of ripped off the recipes, and don't forget Louie Mueller's in Taylor.
