Default Had my S for three months now...

... and I have driven it three times. Once in November and twice in December. The car has been in a 10' x 20' storage unit ever since. Oh, I go over to the unit once a week and and start it up and drive around the facility lot, but that doesn't count at all. If you take your S off the road for the winter, how and where do you keep it?

This winter can't end soon enough!

There is a theory that driving your car short distances in cold weather is not good for the car. Water builds up in oil and exhaust.

I keep mine on the road, here in N Cal we drive all year around. Every S owner should move here

Short distance driving in cold weather is one of the worst things you can do to your car. Get a trickle charger for your battery and connect it to the light circuit in your storage facility. Then only drive it when you can get it fully warmed up.

I've had mine 5 months and probably driven it about 15 times. It sits in the garage, sometimes on cold times I'll go down and turn the space heater on for it

Yeah I have put 27,000 miles on mine just since March. She loves the cold weather just as much as the warm...I don't, but Mildred does. She also loves sliding through stop signs when its icy lol.

This theory is very true but can be countered if you allow the car to operate for at least 30 minutes. In that time, the car can get up to full operating temperature and the water isn't an issue.

I have my S inside for the winter too, every month I start it up for 30 minutes so it can get good and hot and I shut it down. Also, make sure the E brake isn't engaged and the car is not in gear (just block the tires).

I also agree.... spring can't come soon enough.

it takes about 20-30 miles of driving in winter temps to get the oil hot enough to burn off impurities including water, if you can't drive it that far then leave it shut down. I know it's hard to resist. lol.

Last winter I drove mine about 1-2 times a month through winter on dry sunny days for short distances through my neighbourhood. This year I've left it down all winter. I tested my used oil analysis last year and I think the winter start ups accounted for higher iron wear than would have been the case if I just left it down.
