Had a Scare with the S2k ths weekend
Just wanted to tell you guys what happened this weekend with one of my buddies. Was crusing in some streets hitting around 45-60. Then there was this turn which is pretty wide which i usually hit pretty fast. I guess this time I was a little unlucky. I braked till like 30-35, started taking the turn, but i think i accelerated too much while turning and my car started to lose control, I then braked but it wasnt helping much. I ended up hitting the meadian on the left side with the front of the car. I was able to str8 the car while it was lost control so it wouldnt hit the median sideways. Luckily, the meadian was kinda slanted so I prob hit it at 1-015mph and just wend a lil over it So I didnt have no damage. But ever since then im afraid of this happening agian and a pole being there. What can i do to help this.I know one answer would to be to stop taking turns that quickly but i wouldnt think this car would have this problem. By the way it seemed it was the rear end which lost control. Thanks..
I think a better way to say it would be to say that YOU lost control.. The car did not lose control, there is nothing wrong with the car.. Its you whos driving techniques are probably not good enough to push this car as hard as you were.
It sounds like you went into a turn hot and soon as the rear end started comming out you countersteered, panicked, lifted right off the gas and then hit the brakes??
All this would either make you slide right off of the road.. but since you didnt OVER-counter steer.. you just tracked way inside which is what made you go over the Inside median..
Before you go around pushing the limits and ending up in oncoming traffic, Take some driving courses, find an empty parking lot, etc to bring your driving skills up to par.
FYI- this car is fun, but its not to be messed with.. Its not forgiving whatsoever. Search on S2ki for s2k accidents, or "cliff" .. See for yourself how many people lose control in turns when with a little experience, it couldve not been a situation at all.. just a little counter steer and thats it...

oh wow i didnt know that.. so what is the basic way of making a sharp turn in a vehicle.. is it also not good to accelerate at the beginning of the turn, but at the middle to end is good so you dont lose traction

Slow down, learn to drive (e.g. at a track day or driving school) or sell the car; as you

Go to some auto-x's! You'll learn a lot about how to drive at the limit in a (relatively) safe environment. And don't get frustrated if you don't do well. I've seen kids show up at events thinking they were going to be the fastest thing anyone has ever seen only to pack it up after 2 runs because they weren't. All they learned how to do is give up.
Some of these responses may seem harsh but really listen to what we're saying. The S2000 is a great handling car, but that doesn't mean it's easy to drive fast. It will punish driver mistakes in a serious way!
BTW, this will be my fourth year autoxing the S2000 and I still consider myself a novice.
