Just did a quote for my 2009, 5K miles a year, $30,000 value, no mods.

Considering that humbles2k and I pay $883 a year for full 100/300/100 plus uninsured motorist coverage on both of our AP1s at $20k value, I'd say that's excessive. I think we went with the 5,000-mile annual limit and selected $1,000 deductibles. However, we also declined the Drivers Club membership and roadside service and added glass coverage (or maybe that was included... I can't remember). I don't think those would make much of a difference. Maybe it's because we're in Oklahoma.

^ Location has a massive impact on insurance costs. I’ve had my S with Grundy for a few years now. $35k policy for $640/yr.

If it was on my standard car policy it would be around $150/month (that’s what it was before Grundy) with no guaranteed value.

My 911 is on a guaranteed policy with Hagerty.

Grundy or Hagerty, any feelings either way?

Grundy=used for special occasions only
Hagerty=limited use and miles cap

With Hagerty you can do an occasional drive to work, a night out to dinner, occasional everyday use. With Grundy these are simply not allowed.

Its all a bit murky, as they're trying to define the spirit of the rules rather than the letter of the law, as its impossible to predfine every possible scenario.

I put 5K miles a year in the Hagerty quote and they were fine with that. You can take it for drives overnight different places without an issue. You can take it very occasionally to work even but it cannot be a DD.

As I mentioned before, State Farm does offer stated value policies, but they do not offer guaranteed value policies. Different insurers might use different naming conventions, but at the heart of things you are looking for them to guarantee that they'll pay out the full amount you have agreed to under certain circumstances (such as your car being stolen, etc.). This isn't the case with a stated value policy at State Farm, but it is the case with a guaranteed value policy at Hagerty. When it comes to determining such a value, I ask myself if my S were stolen, how much it would it likely cost to buy another one just like it.

does hagerty cover an occasional track day? I was looking at insuring my 02 for $20k but I do plan to occasionally do a track day with the car at a private member track and its not a timed event or anything.

No.

But somewhere in my researching them I recall them suggesting on their website to buy track day insurance for such things.

I definitely need to give Hagerty a call and see how much it would run me.
After reading through the thread, don’t feel as comfortable with progressive and whatever value they would give me.
