I hate the V1 and V2 AP2 shit. Starting in 2006 it should have been the AP3.
AP2 got a facelift compared to AP1, but AP2 V2 got VSA, different seats with no hole, and if I'm not mistaken, a larger intake manifold.
Why is V2 shit?

Before I start, you neglected to mention the engine difference between AP1 and AP2 so it is way more than a face lift. You need to do some homework.
V2 changes are not shit, the fact there is a V2 is shit. I have found a lot of little things that fit AP2 but do not fit V2 or 06+. Seems like you cannot buy just a AP2 part if you have a 06+ you have to buy a AP2 06+ part. Just saying the changes of DBW and VSA were good enough to warrant a AP3.(intake as you mentioned, when I got BBK it had to be for 06+, SOS supercharger is 06+, radiator temp sensor is different, the fuel system is different, there in no fuel return line and no fuel pressure regulator, the emissions systems are different, electronically fuses and relays are not the same or are in different places, and the list goes on).
And again I have to mention the clutch differences between AP1 and AP2.
TPMS sucks when you change wheels. At least $100 for sensors, on my Honda Fit they were $52 a piece and no one could get them programed. I had to go to the Honda dealer and he charged me $100 to do it. Do not believe the stuff about letting the air out your tires and flashing your head lights twice with the radio off BS, none of that shit works. Or you have a flashing amber light on your dash, on some cars ABS and traction control will not work if your TPMS is in alarm.
Oh and if you look at 0 to 60 times the 06 is the fastest model year.

I don't think he was saying the ap2 v2 "is shit". He was saying the whole v1 and v2 naming scheme "is shit".
That is what I said. They never should have had a V2 AP2, just make a AP3. But let us not hijack this fine OP's thread with trivial matters. The best year is a 06, the best color is Laguna Blue. ooopppps that is what I bought!

I didn't mention the engine changes because I thought that was implied...

Wow, you need a better tire shop. Wheelworks had no trouble with TPMS in my BMW, and BMW is hardly known for simplifying anything.
To me being mostly a rear wheel car driver throughout my life. I would have to say a stock s2000 handles very predictable and rates a 10 out of 1-10. I say 10 because its a sports car comparison and I don't care about comfort and noise. I think the improvements to the car throughout the production were ease of use and comfort excluding CR. IMO
The key word is "stock"
The #1 cause of S2000 wrecks is tires. Cheap tires, worn tires, wrong sizes.
Followed shortly thereafter by inclement weather, lack of driving prowess, and stanced suspension.
VSA may help with some of those but it's not a solution, just a band-aid.

Don't forget mis-matched tires, those make the care feel unstable as all get out. Even with matched "sizing", the slight bit of variance between manufacturers will make everything you do feel like the car is trying to kill you.
Ok, I am biased I have an 04 AP2.
Its mostly stock. I think Honda did a great job of tweaking this ride from the getgo.
I think history will show the 04-05 cars are going to be the most coveted. It has all the improvements...except no dbw throttle, no tire sensors, and no trac control. It is raw and it is not as raw a car as the AP1. It is a bit more refined. Sure you cannot brag about 9000 rpm, and you can easily spin the car on a wet or cold day and you cannot reflash the cpu.
OK...so every year has some advantage over another year, but these two years, some of the original car and some of the newer car....will be the most desired in the future, maybe not by much, but that's my bet. I do not care for throttle by wire and this will be the last car I have with an old fashioned cable throttle.
If i had it to do all over again I would have opted for another color, that's close enough to the only regret( but not really). So I am biased now for over 11 years. I love this car.
I agree on the tires statement, you have to get good tires...I have the michelein pilot sports and i love them. I spend my money on tires, use stock honda parts for brakes and oil changes, etc...and drive it like it was intended without beating it. I am on the original clutch.
