Default It happened again, 2nd time this year, slashed top.

When it happened first time earlier this year, I only had liability insurance and I had to pay for all the damages myself. Total was like $1000.

I got a full coverage this time, but I still have to pay $500 deductible.

What kind of option do I have?

1) Replace the softtop again?
2) Get a hardtop?
3) Sell my car?

I already got the police report and I will call my insurance agent tmr. I know they are going to cover my part and labor. but I really feel so frustrated when it happened twice in the same year.

I really love my car and don't want to sell it. Can I ask my insurance to send me a check so I can get a hardtop?

thanks for all the suggestions, actually this is the new place I just moved in for 2 months...I already moved from that city to this city to try to avoid all these sh!t. And i just figured out this place is even worst. My neighbor's 07 accord just got broken in again last night(actually this early morning). That assh0le didn't break her window, instead, he use some kind of tool to open the door and trunk, took all her stuffs, like purse, gps and her final paper lol. The alarm didn't turn on at all. She also called the police and just got the report. So bad she didn't have full coverage. She told me that the thief already broke her sunroof 2 weeks ago(cost $700 to fix) but he couldn't get in because there is a plastic plate in between and it can't open from the outside. So this time that assh0le was well prepared to grab everything. this time costs her more than $1500. I'm just fxxking worried whats gonna happen tmr. im so nervous my car will just disappear in the next day. I don't have any weapons, may be a pepper sprayer? I talked to the neighbor and think we should just park our car right in front of our apartment but we are afraid we will get ticket because it has grass on it.

does anyone knows about the law between the tenant and house owner? Can we say this place is very dangerous to us and we need to move out. Will they give us back the deposit? I still have 10 months before the lease is expired. need some lawyers suggestion!!

Thanks

Need some suggestion when I talk to the insurance agent tmr.

Thanks guys.

Hardtops can be stolen and you may take a bigger hit in the end. Since your having this problem, you may have to go to extremes...like garaging your S when not in use, cameras, getting a beater for daily driving, or leaving your doors open for thieves w/ no valuables inside.

How hard to steal the hardtop?
My apartment only has a open carport, and anyone can access that area...

Hard tops are stolen just as fast. You could slow the thieves down with hardtop locks sold by our sponsors. I would suggest you park the car somewhere else instead of your carport. Maybe a rented garage or public storage...also I would consider getting a daily driver beater. Search the forums you aren't the only one with these issues.

there is nothing you can do, if someone wants your shit they will get it. if feel your pain. i had my excursion broken into twice in two weeks. first time they busted out the window and the second time they busted my driver door lock. the first time i parked in a pay to park area under a street light hoping that would be enough, and the second was broad daylight. but you gotta remember noone is going to come to your rescue even if they see someone breaking into your car.

I have a 2 way alarm and that might help. It would let you know when someone is touching your car. I'm not sure if it would work because I don't know if you can set it to protect your top but it might be worth a try.

At least with a HT, you've eliminated the "impulse factor". To get the HT ,the thief has to have a plan and probably a truck.

If you want to look at the long view, is it feasible to move to a better area of your town? Or perhaps you're in a "good" area and you've just gotten unlucky. I'd at least try to get a place with a true garage if possible.

Here's what you do.

1. Park your car in the same spot it got broken into.
2. Wait for these turds in a steakout vehicle close by with some friends.
3. when these mofo's show up, Bum rush them and give them some street justice.

In all seriousness, did they take anything at all each time your top was slashed? Sounds like its just some hater looking to cause you some grief. They'd probabnly Key your hardtop or bust the rear window on it or something. Sounds like you need a new spot for your S. It comes with the teritory of owning nice shit that people want bro.

The best defense is having good insurance, garaging it, living in a higher class area, and owning a handgun (in order of importance imo)
