Hard to shift
what RPM are u shifting at.. i know the you should be able to shift at any RPM but since this car was made to be track ready.. im assuming the tranny and syncros are made for high RPM shifting..
only time i feel the Notchy shifts are when im shifter very low.. like under 3000 RPM

I have the exact same problem. Everyone praises how smooth the shifter is, but I feel like I'm dragging a stick through a box of rocks when I'm shifting (at times). First to second is especially tricky as it occasionally grinds no matter how much I baby the shifter, my grandma would probably make fun of me if she watched me do the 1-2 shift.
I took the car to the dealer and they told me the same thing you did. I wish we could have the butter-smooth shifts like an RSX or Civic Si gearbox.
I've changed my fluid not too long ago with the new Honda fluid but the results are pretty much the same now. The car was purchased brand spankin' new too.

On the other side of the coin, my AP2 shifter is heavy and a bit finicky if I have too light a touch on it, especially the 2-3 shift. I find I have to move the shifter quickly, more decisively, to get it in gear and then pause to let the revs drop before letting the clutch out. I don't have a smooth rythm in it because of this. I'll try changing the fluid soon.
I've driven AP2s that shift better than mine, so I don't think it's a design flaw. Tolerances from the factory combined with possible abuse by previous owners can all account for the varying feel and shiftability among S2000s.

I was thinking Redline MT90... or the Valvoline Synth Syncro I got for my S13.
I still wonder if it has something to do with the whole AP2 clutch delay thing as well...
I test drove an 01 with 30k on it a couple weeks ago and it was absolutely REDICULOUSLY hard to shift, especially compared to my '07 with 6500 miles that I drove to the dealership to test drive the '01. Something just wasn't right

Definitely for me, it's a lot smoother at higher rpm. Though 1->2 is pretty smooth and easy for me at any rpm.
'05 AP2 (2nd owner)
I recently changed my tranny oil to motul seem good at first but now im having trouble shifting the car feels really hard to get into gear. I just ordered Amsoil hopefully my problem gets fixed im not driving my car right now cuz im scared i might **** up the tranny regardlees what oil i put in at cold start u get a notchy feeling then as soon as the tranny or car get warmer it goes away wierd
You guys who think it is being especially notchy when cold should go through all the gears when you start the car, meaning with the clutch in and the e-brake still on just shift through all the gears. This helps me tremendously in 1st and 2nd when driving in cold weather and snow.
