Default Hard Top - Does it really makes difference ?....

Hi,

Would like to know your opinions about using hard-top in track days. Does it really makes difference ? Or just at high speeds compare to the closed vynil roof ?

I think your original thoughts are correct. No increased regidity since it is not load bearing/supportive. Also as far as aerodynamics our cars would not be going fast enough on most tracks to see any difference; you would probably see more of a difference by taping off the gaps around the headlights or in the front bumper than by having a hardtop. Also the slight gain in aerodynamics would probably be offset by the equally ridiculously small weight gain.

That is unless you remove the soft top & motor and replace it with a hard top. Then you will get some weight savings and aerodynamics which may make small differences on long courses.
