Default hard top problems

well after installing my hardtop last winter I decided it was time to take it off. well after having it removed it I tried to put the soft top up and it did ...a little but then it got stuck half way up and after a million tries I gave up since I was in a rush to get somewhere and just put it down and then later on I tired again put this time it went up more but not enough to close and the latches weren't even aligned right with the hooks...so even if it did close it wasn't gonna hook..just wondering if anyone else experienced any problems because my convertible was working perfectly fine before

My hardtop was on for 7months straight before i took it off. Since the top was down for 7months it was a little tough to get the softtop to stretch all the way to latch the hooks. I had to actually put some muscle into it & press down on the softtop from outside of the car with one hand and keep one hand inside the car until i could get the latch to hook(once you latch one side the other side should be easy. After having the hardtop off for a couple weeks now the softtop seems to have stretched back to normal when putting the top up, no more difficulty in latching the hooks. As for the top only going up half way, i really can't explain what the cause for that would be. Was your engine on or just the key turned with the battery running, if the engine wasn't on & it had difficulty going up it could maybe mean your battery wasn't giving enough power to put the top up.

You might need to manually close the top to see if it will reset it's start and stop points. About page 230 of the owner's manual. It will tell you how. You need to disconnect the power harness under the passenger side footwell. If this doesn't work, at least the top is closed and you can take it to your dealer.

Just like liquid215 said above my hardtop was on about 4 months and it was a little difficult to close the soft top. After a day or so of stretching it works just as good as ever.
