I went and got an estimate on it today..they said the repair is going to be somewhat hard because its aluminum and its dented where the edge rounds off...they said they may have to remove the rear glass and that would risk breaking it...the total they came up with is around $650 to repair.. damn I hope they pay for it..

So was it properly insured or not? If not, you're not going to get much for it.

Dude NEVER EVER use ups.... they will deny your claim no matter what, they are the worst dousche bags. I had the UPS store package my Flat screen, which was later impaled by a forklift, they then send it to me and deny the claim due to insufficient packaging.

I have looked their scheninagins up on the internet and seems they have a nice long history of F ing people over with their insurance claims.

They said I'll have to file a claim with the company that shipped it which was Central Freight Lines...UPS only packed it and they can verify that the top had no damage on it before it was shipped out..

Make sure you keep the original packaging and do not fix the top until everything is cleared and you know they will not be keeping the top for evidence. If you don't have the packaging there's a chance your claim would be declined without evidence.

I'm more then certain that the check will be going to the shipper. I believe there's a 4-12 week wait for the check.

Good luck on getting everything cleared up.

i just read the comment about the package not being insured.. the coverage for something that isn't insured (for a non-freight package, not so sure about freight shipping) is $100 automatic coverage.

I hope that isn't the case.. you might be able to file a claim through UPS for insufficient packaging.

oh my. Yeah if you dont have insurance on this, than I am going to say than you are now SOL! You will be reimbursed a $100 and thats all. Unless you can prove that the packaging was insufficent, than you might have a small chance. But I honestly think it wont still be good enough. For this big ticket item, insurance shoulda been requested. You dont pay 2k+ and not insure it. Lesson learned the hard way. I learned this several times on both sides.

I had my OEM HT i bought off eBay shipped to me via FedEX frieght. I had a small dent near the top middle where it meets the windshield. They wouldnt give me anything for it. I pray for you its different for CFL.
