to answer your question they are not free, they might be included as part of a delaer installed options package. This might be the reason why some folks think they are free because it is in the original pricing.

Some folks simply have no idea what they paid for their cars nor do they care. Or maybe they're embarrassed to tell others that they paid ....... HOW MUCH? for that little hardtop.

 

Hardtops are an option however in UK come on GT version. prices go from $2400 to about $3000, instalation is extra.

 

If I'm not mistaken, the hardtop is an option. I've seen it at Honda dealers retailing for $2,995. However,
Hand A-Accessories has it listed on their web site for $2790. They also have a bunch of other Honda accessories for the S as well.

And they have been selling for as low as $2200.00 from the "HardTopGuy". If you are within 10 hours drive from him, he'll even bring it to you and install it for you.
