"I didn't buy it because it's a convertible. I got it for it's power train, performance and general all around looks. I would have prefered it to have been a 2 door coupe"

I couldn't have said better myself. The S2k certainly filled a niche - what other car is available with this kind of performance (speed and handling) at the same price point?

I wasn't in the market for a convertible but I just couldn't pass up the s2000...

Some car clubs, race organizations require either a hard top or roll cage. It allows a nice race option.

ahh, thnx! hrm, still deciding on what to do. I need the hardtop for some club racing events, but then don't need it for the street (S. cali weather is great). Only downside is that the hardtop makes the S look like a miata. Hrm, waiting on King's reply to my e-mail about their carbon fiber hard-top. If it fits same as stock, I will get that.

I knew someone that had a Miata with a hard top. He went to a dealership to trade it in for a convertible Miata. No kidding. What a bonehead!

While So. California weather is great for now, it's not so great in the winter. Granted there's only rain and no snow, the top still isn't waterproof, only water resistant. I'm going to look into getting the Mugen h/t (way cheaper) sometime before winter starts . . .

Erm, because I want to be ricey and make my car look like a S2000 GT1? Actually, it does add more stability and makes the entire image of the car look so much upclass and sleek. That's the reason why people FORK out so much just for a hardtop.
