Default Hardtop - Any Reason Not to Buy?

I've read all the posts in general about the hardtop but is there any negatives that people have like maybe:
1. It doesn't really improve visibility much.
2. When it's off and the top is down it leaves marks or changes the appearance or something.

It's kind of dorky looking and makes the S2000 look like a Miata.

It does improve visibility when looking to your right (for a LHD), but looking to the left there is still a blind spot, but it is possible to still see out the back window over your left shoulder.

It shouldn't leave marks when it's off since it sits on the seal of the soft top. I can't see how the appearance changes unless you are talking about a couple of interior body panels that aren't really visible anyway.

The only big factor is price, and well maybe the fact that it takes two people to take it off unless you have a hoist. I think the hardtop looks awesome.

I had a hardtop when I owned a Miata. I never used it!!! It just sat in my basement collecting dust. Of course I didn't drive the car in the winter. The top came with the car when I bought it.

If you plan to drive your car year round and live in a cooler climate, then I can see the advantage of using the hardtop. If not, it will just sit in a corner and be a waste of money.

Hmm, I don't see why there's no reason in not getting a hardtop ... Since it's probably one of the best options to compliment the car, in fact I waited untill one day the hardtop version will be available ... Then I bought the car, I could've just bought it immediately but I held back because I know what the hardtop will do to make the car look like.

However, just some reality factors to go through that are CONs in my description. Firstly, the price is indeed a bit overwhelming but then again ... I'm not complaining for good quality produced stuff to beautify the car.

Secondly, it's a bit heavy and definitely bulky and I always need two people to help with the removal and installation of the hardtop when desired to switch between hard or soft top drive. Lastly, the one I hate most is the blind spot ... Though I don't have a problem with it anyhow. It's nothing compared to those big trucks with real blind spots, just improves your driving experience and skills.

I thought it looked ugly in pictures. Recently I got to see a silver one in person. One word: AWESOME! Changes (improves) the looks of the whole car.

Also our member in Hawaii with a black one (always real shiny) looks bad-to-the-bone. Although not much use for in Florida I may buy it for the same reason he did.... security for the times I want to take it to Miami not to mention looks good and no one has a clue of what kind of cool car this is (now).

Well, the only real CONs I have is the price..... The bulkyness is something that is by
design - even if you got the carbon fiber mugen top, you probably still want to have a
second person help you put it on (to minimize the chance of scratching something up
- those rear posts are sharp).

Other than that, I have no regrets about getting my hardtop... I think it looks great,
and helps with the road noise compared to the soft top.

Depending on where you live, it might never get used. Living down here in sunny So Cal, you would never really need to use the hardtop. It's not like it ever snows down here!!!!!

Seriously, the only drawback would be the price of the hardtop.

what....it helps to make the s2000 not look like a miata...ever seen the miata with hardtop...looks nothing like an s2000.

I think the hardtop looks great....people can't seem to tell what the heck it is anymore. the price is steep, but it is aluminun and of very high quality build. I live in Oregon...so it will be great for spring and winter. It gives you three different sounding and looking cars...the only drawback...is the price, but hey....it is only money!!
