Default Hardtop Hoist

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with one of these: http://www.eztop.com/s2000.htm

I'm thinking about getting a hardtop rightnow (almost solely for anti-theft reasons) since my top just got slashed and CD player stolen in my own condo's parking garage, but I want to be able take the top off and put it back on without too much hassle. I'd like to be able to take it off on a whim and go for a drive, and not have to make an evening out of it if you know what I mean. Basically I'd like to know the quality, and ease of use (approximate on/off times would be perfect).

Thanks in advance
Ryan.

Similar question... Anyone using either the EZ-Hoist or IMC's somewhat more economical model?

I'm just looking to get the HT off the ground as the stand & HT footprint is about 30" x 60" and consumes a lot of garage space. Also, if these things are somewhat easy to use it could certainly allow me to fit the top on my wife's S throughout the year when several days of rain or early spring cold snaps pop-up in the forecast vs. limiting the use to the coldest months of the year here in North Georgia (Dec - Feb).

That's really expensive. If you're reasonably handy, you can make your own. I made one from PVC:

With the winch, it takes about 3-4 minutes to put it on/take it off.

I have IMC's manual model. I find it very difficult to attach to the top. There is a good chance of accidental scratching of the car or top when attaching it. I am going to toss mine and look into the EZ-Hoist model.

The nicest thing about the EZ Hoist is that it drops the HT and you can latch it up without having to undo anything. My hoist (based on what HandA used to sell) has a bar go under the HT and a strap that goes under the rear window to the top. That has to be undone before attaching the HT.

The EZ (as nice as it looks) is putting quite a bit of pressure on that center point above the front of the HT. The back end of the HT is 70-80% of the weight with all that glass.

I have the EZ Hoist with the electric motor. Works great, but I don't store the HT on it. I agree about the pressure on the forward pad -- it seems OK but I am nervous about leaving the top hovering over the car for any extended period of time. I especially like the 1 person operation with the handheld control.
Would I do it again? Not sure. It was pretty $$, but at least it can be upgraded to another car at some point in the future.
It is well made and comes with good instructions. Most importantly, I trust it.

I bought a manual hoist from a forum member. It's a hoist modified from a bike rack. It works fairly well. I will take some pics when I get home tonight.
