Default hardtop noise - please advise me.

I'm evaluating the possibility of buying the hardtop for my S2k.
The main reason is related with the level of noise that the softtop produces after the 100 mph barrier. You just can't speak or listen to some music. Besides this, the car willbecome less vulnerable with an hardtop.
I would like to hear from you people that have a hardtop how much it is effective regarding noise reduction and driving confort when cruising at mdium-high speed (100-150 mph).
Just another info: is it too hard for one stand alone person to install and usinstall the hardtop? What's the wieght of it?
BR,
LMT

While I rarely cruise along at 150mph, at lower speeds I would say the noise level actually goes up with the hardtop on. I also think it would be a real challenge to take it on and off by yourself unless you have a rack of some sort.

The engine noise with the hardtop on is quite prominent - especially when you're revving over 4K; however, at any steady speed, you can easily hold a conversation with your passenger without having to raise your voice above a normal level. So having the hard top really does reduce noise significantly; infact, it does such a good job that you can't hear any road noise at all.

Go to members and look for the top 25 posters. Look for Barry WY or something close...he is the resident hardtop expert.

The hard top is a wise investment if you are looking for noise reduction. I'm not too sure how much of difference it would actually make at the speeds you quote, since at that speed, engine/road/tire noise is already way up there by that time anyways
As for removing/installing it yourself, thats a no no. While the top only weighs 45lbs, it would be hard if not impossible to take off without dropping or scraping it on the trunk, if you are going to attempt it yourself.
Good luck

I just put my hardtop on the other day for fall, I always have to put it on by myself. It only weights 45 lbs. Goes on easy!
