Default Hardtop question

So I bought a used OEM hardtop in mint condition for 800 bucks the other day, it was an offer I couldnt refuse. I am now in the process of getting the hardware together and painting the hardtop to colormatch my paintjob (since it isnt a factory color anymore)

All four latches are already on the hardtop (don't know if the side latches come with the top or the hardware kit).

I am just wondering if I should order the full kit from Hardtopguy for roughly 640 shipped, or if I can piece what I need together for cheaper. The only reason I haven't flat out bought the kit is because I don't have a need for the rear window defroster, so I am trying to save some money where I can.

Did you look in the FS forum? I thought I saw someone selling the hardware in there.

I am a college student and I dont have money pouring out of my pockets, so I definitely couldnt pass up this deal. I even had to take a loan out just to get the top. Now that I have paid the top off in the past two weeks, I am about to repaint it and get the hardware.

Thanks for all the replys. I cant wait to finally have a window thats glass and tinted.

yeah I am going to have to kill myself at work over the holiday season, but it definitely will be worth it. My soft top was starting to get wear holes after 80k miles so I figured I might as well spend the little extra on the hardtop.

I ended up finding a set of aftermarket side catchers (brackets) from a seller here on S2KI. I will be ordering the strikers from hardtop guy. Oh and I am not ordering the defroster/brushes. The body shop is charging 425 for a respray, which brings my grand total of parts/hardware to right at 800 bucks (the side catchers were only 259 shipped BRAND NEW).

1600 bucks for a practically brand new hardtop is definitely worth working overtime.
