Default Hardtop defroster & disabling softtop switch

Dear all,

I recently installed a hardtop on my MY02 S2K (with glass rear window). I have properly connected the Y-piece subharness (4 pin to the car's 4 pin connector, 3 pin to hardtop & 2 pin to the left rear catch), as instructed by the revised MY02 installation manual.
But the hardtop defroster seems not working & the soft top switch is still activated (which should be disabled when hardtop fitted??).

Can you suggest any reason??

many thanks!

did you plug the hardtop defroster wire into the s2000?

you dont need to disable the soft top switch.

By "soft top switch is still activated" you mean the top tries to go up with hardtop installed when you push the standard "ROOF"switch forward? A part of the hard top frame is supposed to push on a button switch in the left rear catch, just aft of the catch socket, to disable the soft top.

If you hold this button down by hand with hardtop off and soft top down, does the soft top still try to go up with the "ROOF" switch? If so, your wiring must not be connected correctly. If not, you must have some mechanical alignment problem with the button and the hardtop.

Don't know about the defroster. As Guedo512 says, you do have the hardtop plugged into the 3-pin connector sticking thru the hole, right? If so, once again wiring is suspect.

thanks Guedo512 & dhayner !

I went and pushed the button pin and the roof is de-activated!!!
This means I haven't installed the roof down properly...

This also means my defroster wiring connection should also be good...so might give it a try again and see...

thanks again!
