Just got word that the hardtop 'should' be available here at the start of the year. Honda still isn't sure exactly when or how much and is definatly worried that they won't be able to keep up with demand. The pricing that was hinted at was around $2900

Wish I had something more solid on it but figured I'd pass along what info I had.

Sounds good, but I'm waiting to hear the price/availability on the MG Racing carbon fiber top. Giampiero says he'll have more info on pricing and delivery around mid November.

FYI, the MG Racing top will have a heated rear window.

I have a question about the weight of the factory hard top and the recommended weight limit of the S2000. If I read correctly the limit of the Stook is 400 lbs. They suggestb not exceeding that weight because it will hinder handling, etc. Obviously, more weight means less get-up-and-go. So, how much does the hard top weigh? What if you have two beefy guys -- say 200 lbs each -- and the hardtop? What is the wieght going to do to the car's handling and performance? The hardtop is actually adding weight to the car, because you don't remove the convertible top. I gbuess it doesn't matter in Japan, where the average weight of a person is much less than Westerns.

Just a thought about weight.

Looking for comments from the board.

I believe the hardtop only weighs about 45 lbs. And since it adds to the structure of the car, i don't think it would hinder handling ability, though i could be wrong.

The aluminum Honda top weighs 40 lbs. I would expect the MG Racing top to weigh about 1/2 that, just a guess though.

The carbon fiber will weigh less and I believe the glass rear window will be smaller on the MG racing top.
