Default hardtop and vibrations

I have a bangin sound system with subwoofers and when i have my top down it sounds great but with top up the subs create quite a bit of rattle inside the cabin. Those of you with hardtops, does this rattling get reduced once you bought a hardtop and put it on?

Don't have a hardtop, but I can tell you that a "Car and Driver" test of an s2k with a hardtop reported that all kinds of road and wind noise were magnified by the addition of the hardtop. Apparently, interior accoustics weren't high on the hardtop designer's list.

Thanks
Richard

I have no clue why they would say that but the addition of the hardtop on mine was a HUGE improvement in sound dampening. The wind noise is almost non-existant and you only hear the engine a little louder but that should be expected but no wind noise. With the soft top it always sounded like a window was open when a car goes by and now I can barely hear them. The hardtop is one of the best additions you can put on your S.

I would hope that the hard top would dampen the exterior noise... I mean, I can hold a conversation with a person on the outside of the car when the top and windows are up.

I doubt that the vibrations from the music would be stopped by a HT. Have you found what is rattling? BTW my HT cuts down on the interior noise dramatically. Definately one of the better things I have gotten for the S.

I think that what the car and driver article was saying was that at higher revs the engine noise was greatly magnified with the hardtop. And I think the author was claiming that it sounded like a can of bees--alot of noise but not enough sting compared to the mach1 and whatever other cars were included in that comparison.
