My dealer today said 3200 with everything. Seemed a bit high compared to the hardtop how much thread.

And $400 for shipping seems very high. I have gottin a few motors shipped for under $250.
A motor is about 1/2 the dimensional weight of a boxed up hardtop.

Feel free to take the numbers I gave you before and get your own price quote.

This may me a silly question, but has the Silverstone color code changed any between model years?

This sucks

I had a quote from St. Johns Honda up here in portland (2800) and they also called back and said sorry "its been discontinued." His "best" price was 3500 on the "new" model....

1) they raised their shipping prices and
2) it depends on how far you are shipping it!

Hardtopguy is in New York. Flagstaff is in Arizona. Guess which one can ship to SoCal for less money?

of course it would cost more to ship if I were to get a shipping quote, a retailer will always pay less to ship than a regular joe

tirerack charges <30 bucks to ship a set of wheels, it would cost you more if you were to ship the same set of wheels yourself

i guess some retailer pass on the savings to their customer, and some choose to use it as profit in addition to the profit of the item itself.

and if thats their business strategy then so be it, im just stating facts, an educated consumer is a smart consumer

My hardtop was shipped to the Bay Area by Honda from a facility in southern California. It would seem reasonable that Flagstaff Honda got their supply via the ports in Los Angeles than through the east coast or via the Panama canal. In that case, were all the dealers charging the same price for the same product, the ones in SoCal are making the biggest profit, because of lower shipping costs. Also, within the same region of the country, the dealers with the highest prices are making the most money. Easy money for them if you don't call a few dealers. Within a 10 mile radius up here in the Bay Area, I found a $1000 difference in the prices quoted me. (By the way, El Cerrito Honda gave me the lowest price even despite adding on $100 for shipping from LA and a few hundred dollars of profit.) You can probably negotiate the profit that they make. The problem with local purchase is that you pay local taxes, which would be 8% of $2800, approx. $220 here, vs. none if you ordered interstate. The plus to a local transaction is that they are responsible for damages, and can do an installation if you need that.
