Default Is it harmful to turn the AC on and off?

Hi. On days when it is hot but not extremely hot, I like to turn the AC on until the car cools off. Then when the car becomes a little too cold, I turn the AC off for a while until the car becomes too warm again.

Usually I cycle between five minutes on and five minutes off.

Is this harmful to the AC systen? Would it be better to turn the temp dial to a warmer position and leave the AC on continuously?

I think you should leave it to a warmer position, not that it should break your AC, but then Honda designed the temp adjustments for you so you don't need to turn A/C on and off all the time yourself ... it's also safer as well, since you won't be fiddling with the controls every now and then

Why don't you do what I do and switch the vents from the ones up front to the ones down low by the foot well area only. By the time the air reaches you from down there it would have warmed up enough and keeps your car at a steady temp without you messing with the A/C's on & off button. Just a suggestion since it works for me.

Good Luck

Meh. Mostly a matter of personal preference. I couldn't stand to fiddle with the AC controls constantly like that.

I guess it's also a bit different down here. Anything less than full blast isn't enough.

No issues - the car does this iteself, actually. Pop the hood sometime and watch the AC unit - you'll see it turn off an on even if you have it turned on to full.
