Default Has ANYONE Ever Painted the Audio and Temp Control Modules?

It seems like every mod I want to do is really rare. I'm not trying to be different than everyone else, I just choose the mods based on what I want my car to be.

I want to remove and paint the front panels on the Audio Control Module and the Temp Control Module. I'm not doing anything crazy, I just want them either black, or aluminum color.

The problem is that I don't know how to remove the knobs, or the front panels.

If I can't get any info, I'll probably just bonzai, and try to completely disassemble them.

Has anyone ever seen them painted, or disassembled them before?

No one can argue that (although some gere will certainly TRY).

PM DJQube...he had the audio control panel completely apart to work on his control mod.

I PM'd him earlier today, but I haven't heard back yet.

I'm really concerned about the LEDs on the Temp Module.

Maybe I'll just get out my screwdriver.

Well, I couldn't wait!

The Audio Control Module is very easy to take apart. There is one small screw on the back, then just pry it apart, while pulling back the retainer tabs. The board inside just lifts out, exposing the back of the switches.

Unfortunately, I don't see any way to remove the switches, so I'm not even going to attempt to strip the Temp Module.

I think I might have to give up on painting them. I could mask them, but I'm sure I wouldn't be happy with the outcome. I could also use one of those stick-on pieces, but I don't think I'd be happy with that either.

I pulled all of that apart too and i didnt see any way to get the switches out without breaking them. The knobs just pull off too.

143 views, and no one picked up on this-

I stated that I wanted my Control Modules either black, or aluminum color -
I was just looking at pics of an '01 and THE CONTROL MODULES ARE BLACK!!!

Evidently, my '02 model comes with the upgraded "Titanium" color.

This is great news, because now I can either trade someone who would like to upgrade the look of their pre-'02 model, or I can just buy a set from a crashed S.

The third piece that is this "Titanium" color, is the portion of the center console that surrounds the roof and flasher switches. It's actually the whole console top, and that portion is painted. I have to have that piece, too.

I was really bummed when I figured out I couldn't strip the consoles to paint them. Now I'm smiling again!

Since I'm painting the dash panel Sebring, I wanted to see how the Module color will look next to it, so I just held up the module next to the body (it looks different, depending on the light:

I like the "Titanium" look of the modules, but I think the color tone doesn't quite match when butted against the Sebring color.

I think I would prefer Black, if I can do that. I've got to check out the former modules, and see how "Black" the covers are.
