If anyone has had the tranny grind fixed in Southern California, would you post the name of the dealer and your thoughts on their work?

My dealer was supposed to order the parts about a month ago, including a new rear window (one time courtesy replacement).

I haven't heard from him, but I'm not real anxious to get it done, from the stories that I've been hearing. I have autocrosses schedule every 2-3 weeks and I don't want to lose the use of my car over the 3-day San Diego Grand Prix weekend coming up or the Thanksgiving holiday, so I haven't followed up with them yet.

After hearing what Chris went through with his clutch being back ordered, I may just follow up in the next week or so to make sure that they have all of the parts by the beginning of December!

I had the work done at Penske Honda in Ontario last week. They took two days, they ordered the parts in advanced and did what i hope was quality work. At first, they said they would only do the work if they could replicate the prob. After ruffling a few feathers, by pointing out all the years they have gotten my business (2 cars purchased there, total of five different Hondas always serviced by them exclusively, they agreed to do the work and provide a rental. The only concern I have is that several other people in other states have mentioned that the clutch assembly was replaced as well. This did not happen in my case. I would have mentioned it if I would have known prior to dropping it off. At this point, I will just wait to see if the clutch feels any differnt. So far, the clutch seems fine, but the tranny is 100 times sweeter now as far as operation.

i had it done at santa monica honda. if you want to call up Ron Gee (pronounced Jee) and tell him Richard Ming send you his way. They did a pretty good job. to think of it, my complaint that the stick was too sticky has gone away after 2 weeks.

and they don't require you to prove it, at least he didn't ask me to, but they were able to reproduce it.

Mine's in the shop now. Scott Robinson in Torrance. The tranny's fixed but they were also replacing the tranny mounts. They shipped them two left mounts, right mount will be in Friday. I'll let you know how things worked out when I get it back. They are also ordering a new rear window. Nice they did this today (Thursday) since they have had the car since Saturday!

More to come...

Steve,

Is your S2K red?

I was at Scott Robinson in the morning and I saw a red S2K being worked on (2nd gear grind).

Penske Ontario did mine. In fact, F1 Trainer must have had yours in right before mine 'casue I asked if I was the guinea pig and they said "no you're #2". I was not given any hassle. I bought and referred a lot of business to Penske stores. I had been in diaglogue with them for about 8 months on the grind. It feels great....vast improvment in shift feel.

Red Scorp,

Did they only do the gear part swap or did they do the clutch as well. I am a little concerned about this? What was the deal with you. Although the clutch feels fine.

The grind doesn't seem to be too much of a problem for me, but I have had it occur at least a few times over the past year. I am curious about how those cars that have been "fixed" actually feel in comparison to mine. Hey F-1 Trainer, was that you that I was driving next to the other day on Jamboree in Tustin?
