Default Hats? Bugs? How to handle them in an S2k.

Two directions for this thread to go:

1) I'm sure many of you like to wear baseball caps. I like driving with the top down but I don't particularly like my hair going everywhere. Not vanity, but it's just uncomfortable. How do you keep your baseball cap from flying off while driving with the top down? Do you just pull it tight and avoid looking up? I don't think I want to wear it backwards either. The peak of the hat would smack the headrest. Besides, what if I need to reverse really quickly? Seriously though, do you have a special car hat that you've added a string/lanyard to for wearing around your neck? If so, how does that even work because the string around your neck goes around the back of your neck and this would not stop the hat from blowing off. Hmmm.

2) In the Mid-Atlantic (and maybe elsewhere), it appears as though this is year 17! I'm talking about the 17 year cycadas (locust) that will be overrunning everything in late May through early July. How do you plan to cope with that? I wouldn't be parking anywhere with the top down - not even for a few minutes. Cycadas .... Mmmmm ... good eatin'.

When my hair is on the longer side my cap is pulled on tight. After a haircut I don't need a cap, only sunglasses.

I usually have my hair pulled through the hole in the back and a scrunchie on the ponytail. This will keep it from going anywhere. That or use a visor

I generally have mine tied back, but even so the little bits usually go flying about and I generally have very messy hair after a drive. That means I don't usually go top down on the way to work, only on the way home.

I hate wearing hats, I just keep all the windows down, roof off, and let the air push it about.

How about wearing a beanie? Hair gel? Shave it all off?

Most of the time, I do not bother to wear a ball cap when driving top down. At 6 foot 2, my head sticks up pretty far into the air stream, and the cap feels like it is on the verge of being pulled off my head. I have no flyaway hair problems, since I choose to wear my hair rather short - these days short about 50,000.

That's what I did - works great! Plus no need to own a brush/comb anymore.
