Default Header and full exhaust match up question

I installed a Tanabe dual tip catback on my 2001 S2000. I want it louder. It's deep, but the decibals didnt rise much. I am disappointed, I thought my tanabe would be louder. However, what If I install a header? Would this make the decibals louder? Do aftermarket headers replace the cat? And most importantly, do any headers work with any catback? I need a header that will work with the Tanabe dual tip catback.

Any suggestions or help is appreciated!

headers do not replace the cat i believe i don't think ive heard of a header "with" high flow cats in them.. you can get a headerback exhaust...

Yeah, that was one thing I noticed while looking for aftermarket headers. I'm assuming all aftermarkets then, must work with (in terms of length and connection) with the stock test pipe...

stock cat.

but yes a header would make it louder, why not try a test pipe first. and if it still isnt loud enough get a header

I agree. try a TP before a header. Cheaper and will definitly make it louder. I am not so sure with a header.

will a test pipe make it legal? For instance, many test pipes out there claim they have a high flow cat built-in. However, the interesting part of this is that many claim it as ALSO acting as a resonator.

I don't mind a high flow cat by any means. I just need to be legal in terms of inspection. Thanks! I'm also assuming I won't need a CEL fix.
