Default Headlight Polishing - Before and After

With over 75k miles on my '02 S2000 now, I've noticed that the headlamps were looking rough. Even with my continued Zaino applications on the paint and always enough to cover the headlamps, they needed some help. You can even ask w1ngman (Dave) about them, they were on the verge of needing replacement.

Some folks suggested various products like Plexus. I decided to visit a local Marine Supply store and look for specialty cleaning products on plastic, acrylic, etc. The product I found was 210 and 210 Plus. The owner of the supply store stated he had great success with the product and shared that he event used it to eliminate a scratch on the screen of his son's Gameboy.

210 Polish is used to "maintain" the plastic
210 Plus is used BEFORE to help eliminate scratches, small pits and marks

I found these links online for 210 Polish:
http://www.snapfastener.com/cleaner.htm
http://www.shipstore.com/ss/html/ARM/ARM21014OZ.html
http://www.carinapictureframe.com/cppolish.html

Never tried this product, but I see plenty of cars with the problem. Maybe this is the solution?

If you are interested in purchasing, I urge you to FIRST visit your local Marine Supply store. Chances are, they'll have it stocked or can order it cheaper than these sites advertise. My 210 Polish was $7.99 and my 210 Plus was $7.99 at "Custom Marine" in New Bern. If you are unable to find any at your local store and don't want to order online, PM me and I will pick up what you need and ship it to you.

So, here are the pics. . .

BEFORE

AFTER

The process. . .First, not knowing what effect this product would have on the paint of the S, I prepared the surface around the headlamp. I then used a damp chamios to clean the headlamp. I applied the 210 Plus first and applied it in a back and forth motion (similar to applying Zaino). The 210 Plus is a bit "gritty" feeling and works on "scratching" the plastic to clean it.

I then "buffed" the 210 Plus and applied 210 Polish. Absolutely AMAZING! The difference is astonishing. While I don't have NEW headlamps by any stretch, I no longer feel the urge to order replacements. The "cloudiness" of the headlamps is gone and the "film" that was developing on each headlamp around the top edge is GONE!

And just like that, my headlamps are looking excellent. I am thrilled!

If anyone has used a similar product with success, please share it here. best of luck in your efforts, if you do this, you will love the finished product!

I recently got some Zaino plastic magic and it works great also, much better than plexus. Cleaned 190,000 miles of haze off the headlights and tail lights on my truck, and got a scratch off the screen of my mtn. bike speedometer. Also works great on the speedometer of automobiles, cd player, etc.

I used the meguiar plastic cleaner on my rear window takes out a lot of the lines. I also use it on my headlights it okay not that great but it probably because my headlights aren't to beat up.
