I dont think its that big of a problem with manual transmission since you're always stepping on the clutch when braking unless you're an enginebraker or your's heel and toe-ing. But then, thats the point right?

Based on his recent lack of game time, I'm guessing Shaq needs to work on his Heal Toe technique...

How 'bout a little (RELIABLE) toggle switch strapped to the shifter which energizes the cruise control cable whenever you hold it in? Or am I just crazy? Wait, try not to answer that second question.

It depends what you need your "left foot braking" for? Much easier to use the left foot if you are and approaching a corner not needing to change gears. Then just keep attacking the corner and use the left foot to brake to get the nose of the car turn in towards apex little more, remember keeping right foot on the throttle and give pretty much gas. Do some runs and you will get it and understand the benefit because it helps the car to steer in better while keeping throttle control pretty much at same level through the corner prior to exit apex.

Oh sorry I thought you meant left foot braking. heal/toe technique hasn't much of use if you time your braking point and brake heavy and go down through the gears towards hitting apex.
