Heat Soak?
I have owned an MY04 for over a year and it seems that when the temps hit high 80's and up, the car bogs from a standstill. Once the revs hit aorund 2k it gets out its funk. I assume that it is heat soak as I have adjusted the throttle cable and there are no mods on the car. I was wondering what remedies there are available to get rid of the bogging. I have seen the air intakes from MUZ that are an extension to the airbox. Do these things work? When I look at them, they almost look like they might restrict airflow as they appear to get pretty narrow. What other solutions are there that take care of this? I am looking for a sure-fire solution and not speculation so anyone who has solved this same problem please let me know. Thanks for reading.
You got more balls than I. I would be hesitant to cut my hood. I like the snorkel from MUZ but it seems a little pricey. Any other mods out there that do the same while keeping the engine stock? Thanks.
The snorkle won't do anything about heat soak. There are several ways to remedy your problem.
1)Throttle body coolant by-pass, a free mod.
2)Cold air intake
3)Engine heatshield
Do a search on these and you'll find plenty of info
Although the stock airbox is designed very well it is very prone to heatsoak, a quick way to not bog is to just blip your throttle before you take off so that you can get cooler air flowing instead of the warm air that has settled while your car idles.
Here is my short-ram intake w/ a spugen heatshield. I feel like this setup has helped a lot to reduce bog. I haven't done the throttle body by-pass, but lots of people do and report good results.

Blip the throttle before you go - its like clearing your throat - easiest and cheapest way to fix bog.
I like the sound of that fix as the cost is just right. Thanks

i got an intake snorkel from ebay and modify it to increase flow at the restriction part and it showed no power lose on the dyno. i also insulate the air box and snorkel. data logging showed a 15-20 deg drop on intake air temp after the insulation.
i also have hondata intake mani gasket and throttle body coolant bypass. the car has no hesitation at stop light at all. it feels like i'm driving the car in winter, the engine is very responsive. i had to relearn how to drive the car because i was so used to having to rev the engine much higher to take off on hot days.
the hondata gasket and coolant bypass doesn't really help much in stop and go situation because it can still absorb heat from the surrounding hot air. most of the improvement came from the snorkel and insulation of the air box.
