Heated Seats (long)
Living in New England, about the only thing the S2000 does not have that I would have liked is heated seats. I checked out past threads and found that a few people had aftermarket kits installed. I went to the www.checkcorp.com website and you can locate an installer in your area by zip code. I found 5 in my area and did some research to see who was reputable. The appointment for the install was today.
In the past most people have mounted the switches between the gearshift leaver and the radio cover. The installers said they preferred not to have to cut the steel that runs through the console, so they recommended installing the switches on either side of the power outlet, below the glove compartment. It looks really good and not too conspicuous. The installation looks stock and the illumination of the switches is the same orange glow found in the rest of the car. The elements in the bottom and back of the seats do not add any noticible thickness. The high setting heats up really fast (i.e. before I was out of the installers parking lot) and the low setting is a nice comfortable heat.
I know most people think this is too much of a luxury in an S2000, but I'll do anything to keep the top down longer as the weather gets cooler. The price was $450 installed and I think it was well worth it. If I can borrow a digital camera from a friend, I will post some pictures of the switches.

Something I may think about doing also! Although you may not need it here in sunny Southern California, I do miss it when I had my 1999 Acura TL!
Post some pics of the switches if you can!
Thanks!

no1fa,
I'm one of those who has already had this done. Here's the thread:

My installer said that the location between the shifter and the radio was good because the deep switches fit there with no problem. Is the necessary depth available in the location you're talking about? It does sound like it would be a nice location if they fit. Are your switches and heating elements the same as mine?
Enjoy the butt heat,
Ted

Hi Ted,
Yes, your thread was my inspiration. I did not even know that aftermarket seat heat could be installed. I believe that the kit is the same, from the check corporation website. The switches look identical. The switches fit perfectly on either side of the power outlet, so there is enough room for them back there.

Why not use the defogger switches behind the cup holder? Even if you DID have a defogger I'm sure the blank side could be rigged to hold 2 switches. Don't they use the other side for Euro headlight sprayers?
