Helmets during regular driving

Right, which why they are required for track driving. Because we want to be less safe? Sorry, but this just may be the most idiotic thing I've read this year. The year is young, though.
Don't you think that if you did hit the windshield (which only happens if you are not belted in) or the side window (much more likely) that you would want to be wearing a helmet in that case?
There was a concern a few years ago about airbags and fullface helments (somebody broke his jaw in a crash on the track and they thought the helmet interacting with the airbag might have been the reason). But the SCAA investigated it and must have decided it was no big deal, because they did not implement their proposed rule banning fullfaces in cars with airbags.

As an experienced motorcycle rider, I have to agree with all your statements. Most of you that are making the incorrect and idiotic comments have obviously never worn a helmet before.

I already discussed the full-face/airbag issue. It's a legend. People remember the SCCA had a concern, without remembering that after investigation the SCCA was no longer concerned.

I would laugh if someone pulled next to me in a car wearing a helmet.
This kind of goes along the with the topic, do you think people should wear head phones while their driving.

I think it is funny that folks figure it is okay to mandate helmets for motorcylists but not for car drivers. I don't have the reference but I read the largest medical cause of auto fatalities was head injury. If helmets could reduce those why don't we enact that requirement? Because drivers (voters) don't want to wear them! It was forced on motorcycles in most states on the basis of reduced cost to society. BS! So few of us ride compared to drive that a FAR larger benefit would be had from forcing drivers to wear helmets.
Guess what, not every motorcyclist wants to wear a helmet either! if we repealed CA's law tomorrow I'd still wear my helmet when I ride but I respect the right to chose.

I assume you have a pocket bike.

i taken the passenger seat out to transport it. its more of a mini bike than a pocket one. its not the really small one as mine has working horn signals, headlights, and brake lights. yea i know i meant motorcycle helmet
lol. I think if I saw someone do it, I'd just laugh too.
Of course, this would just be to good off. I would truly hope that no one would REALLY play "racer" while goofing off like this (as someone had mentioned) while doing it -- especially among this community.
Anyone up for an all-S2k helmet day? =P

Back in the 80's I started wearing full leathers when riding my sport bikes on the street, and plenty of people thought it was dumb. Now it's common to see guys in full leathers riding sport bikes, so who knows; If you drive around wearing a helmet for a few years, it might catch on.
OTOH, a helmet and an airbag can be bad medicine.

I've done it quite a few times, hell I did it once from my town all the way to tampa (90 minute drive) I got a lot of thumb ups and laughs, it was all in fun to look like a fool
