Helmets during regular driving
It's not just that it's "uncool" or whatever, but it borders on "that dude has something wrong with him."
There's a logical argument for wearing kevlar 24 hours a day or a rubber to the grocery store, but you just don't do it
If the lack of roof is that much of a worry during normal driving, then drive something with a roof.

I am so relieved to read this thread.About 2-3 months back, a few guys I know-- who do not own S2Ks mind you but the five guys own a '07 350Z convertible, '07 Miata, '03 Viper SRT10, '06 C6 Corvette Z51, and '05 Lotus Elise-- began wearing helmets when driving their vehicles top down just for kicks and laughs. They asked me to try it, too, but I thought it was a dumb idea.
Just for fun, though, I decided to go to a local motorcycle shop near my store to see what the prices of helmets would be. As soon as I stepped in, the big, bad biker guys began staring me down as though by staring at me, they'd scare me and cause me run off.
I asked a cashier how much the helmets cost but he said, "Check the prices, dude." There weren't prices written anywhere near the helmets, though...
The manager eventually asked me if I needed help, and he was kind enough to show me some of the really cheap helmets. I lied that I was planning on going to a track and needed a helmet to which he responded, "You won't get much out of motorcycle helmets then."So, long story short, I wasted about an hour or so in the shop, talking to the cashier and manager about helmets. Eventually, a customer saw my S and began asking me about it. He was pretty cool, but the whole time kept complaining about how broke he was compared to me just because I own an S2000 and he owned a motorcycle.

I might some day try the helmet thing, but not any time soon.

Some people like to be funny and dont take life too seriously. I guess maybe because i grew up in NYC and no matter how wierd you look nobody pays attention to you.
Other than that, you're pretty much a nut
