Yes, the NSX is expensive to repair. 2400.00 for a timing belt as opposed to the S at 700.00. Parts are nearly double the cost of an S if the NSX gets into an accident. The right fender for an NSX retails at 1158.00 and the upper nose lists at 899.00. How about a side marker lamp for 98.00. Pretty pricey compared to an S.

Since I work for a Honda Dealer, my costs for repairs and maintenance won't be that high ( I hope). I plan on using the NSX as my daily driver and I'm sure I'll miss the top down driving.

Either way you decide, you'll be happy.
$2400 For a timing belt!? Not quite. I had the timing belt changed, water pump replaced, cam seals replaced etc on my NSX for less than $1200. In addition, the S2000 doesn't have a timing belt! It's a gear/chain system. Just out of curiousity, what did they quote you for muffler bearings?

I don't mean to be harsh, but where in the world did those numbers come from? Honda dealer or not, anyone who quotes those prices and tries to replace the "timing belt" on my S2000 certainly won't be allowed near any of my cars.

An NSX is definately the way to go. It's the S2000 big brother...nobody can deny it's the most reliable exotic car PERIOD. And don't worry about getting the 3.0 or the 3.2 L model years either one will impress you. As for things to look out for, you have to worry about the snap ring in the '91 and '92. As for the oil changes...it's easy...I've helped my cousin do his. As for the timing belt, that's some serious money to get done. Also I hope you don't mind attention, that thing just begs for people to look at you. Good luck with your decision, I know you won't be unhappy with the NSX, everyone else is right, check out NSXprime.com Its a very good forum.

We have a winner....

A used NSX........... NSX Just the sound of it ......makes me tremble with excitement.

My two options are now to decide what year and how... this will take some time.... and lots of research.

First sell the S2000 privately then take the long task of hunting "For the One"

or

Look for a dealership that has a used one willing to take the S2000 in for a trade + Cash.

Thanks everyone.....

worried a little about insurance ????? I pay about 1000/ year for the S2000

Congrats
Don't forget my previous post about checking out NSXPrime.com
I've heard others received good help in locating a good one.

If you can afford it, then make sure to get an MY97+.

Many have listed the advantages and disadvantages of both... Personally I would go with an used NSX, its Honda's top offering, their very best.
