Help deciding which s2000 to get
Hi Guys, new to the forum. A little about myself. I had a s14 kouki sr20 before this but unfortunately someone hit me and totaled it. So I decided it was time for a new car. I chose the s2000 because I dont need to mod it to have fun. HOwever I'm in a little pickle. I found a stock AP1 with 110k miles for 9.5k. And i also found a stock AP2 with around 110k miles for 11.5k. Both have same mileage. The ap1 have some small dents while the ap2 doesnt. Both have a clean title except there was a rear impact report on the ap2, however it looks perfectly good. I guess my question would be, is the 2k difference worth it for me to get the AP2? Or do you guys think i should just save the 2k. I'm in grad school so once i graduate ill be getting a new car anyways. I just wanna drive a s2k while i can haha. I won't be modding the car. Nothing crazy. I did it all on my s14 and i dont wanna go thru all that again. I would keep the s2k stock. Any help would be greatly appreciate! I hope this forum is a bit nicer than zilvia. hehe JK
Well since you already said youre not going to stick with the car for long, id go with the cheaper option, save the money, and get something "better" after you graduate from school.
Theres no point in spending more money in a car that you know you wont keep.

If the plastic rear window doesn't bother you then get the 14 year old car as opposed to the 11 year old one with the glass window. I'm sure you won't lose much cash on either one in a couple years.

I drove several AP1's and AP2's when I started my search but wound up buying a low mile '04 for my first S2K. The AP1s were great cars but felt kinda like my '07 Civic Si in that I had to rev the fool out of them before they came on strong, and they were a hand-full at the limit. The AP2 was more "docile" and seemed stronger at any RPM short of VTech. Having said that, I would agree with the other posters that there is a viable arguement for the lower cost car. In my case, money was not an issue so I could get exactly what I wanted.
I would recommend reading the threads here about what you need to do with ANY new S2K to make sure the maintenance is up to snuff. Welcome to the site and drive it like you stole it!
