Default help- i just test drove, question on tranny noise

I'm still wired from zinging to redline...sweet...but let me save my impressions for later.

the car has a mechanical sound - kinda like a rattle...or "clunk"...when i'm coming out the clutch about to engage a gear (1st or reverse). once you're moving everthing is hunkydory. when testdriving i heard no other abnormal sounds..... is this tranny noise normal?

oh yes, i searched using different terms but did not find anything specific plus my computer is a freebie and slow like hell. i hope you guys can help me out.

02 with only 6700 miles, probably not abused.

Hard to say from your description. The S2000 makes a few more mechanical noises than most cars, the transmission has very direct linkage that can be a little notchy when cold and the limited slip differential can make some noises when backing up. You should have a mechanic take a look, or maybe someone here on the forum can help. Try posting in one of the regional forums to see if someone is available to go check out the car. As with most cars, once you've owned one for a while it's fairly easy to spot things that aren't normal.

Thanks S2KA.

there's this guy i know who has one. i hope to see him today for some advice...

....the car is still under warranty, i guess i can just fetch it to a dealer after i purchase and have it checked out? most likely will be a warranty fix if needed???

BTW, nice sig. one of the things i will remember in my lifespan, was that I saw Senna qualify.....
