That appears to be brake dust that has settled into the clear coat. When washing wheels, you have to wash the whole wheel carefully and not miss any spots, or this happens. Try the least aggressive product first. There are various clear coat scrub products out there that are safe for clear coat paint on the body itself. Just test it to be sure. I believe Meguiar's has a clear coat body scrub that is not abrasive. I would try that first.

What have you tried using so far that hasn't worked?

As I posted in the Wash & Wax forum, try Meguiars Paint Cleaner.

This is no regular dust, dirt, or grime. I have used Formula 2001....the least abrasive stuff since it doesn't have any acid. Then I tried some other wheel cleaner. Didn't work.

I even tried WD 40 on a rag (someone suggested it on a thread). I am talking about thirty minutes a rim of scrubbing and elbow grease. This is either below the surface or corrosion or something.

I have been told that Honda will replace the wheel if this is corrosion. What do you guys know about that? Could this be corrosion?
