Default Help me decide~

I thinking about buying a 01' Silverstone w/ red & black interior wit only 10000 miles on it today. The price is $22200. It has a few scratch on the rear bumper. A hole on the door panel. And the car will shake a little bit after driving more than 45 mph. The seller said it's because that he just change a new tire and the tires are not balanced properly. The seller seems like a pretty honest guy. But I don't have much knowledge on S2000. Should I take the risk and buy the car? The car is still under warrenty, does that mean I don't have to worry too much??? Can you guys give me some suggestions please? I really need your help. If this don't seem like a problem to you guys then I will buy the car today for sure. thx!

The shake could be a flat spot on a tire or ........ collison damage! You just don't know. Most reputable sellers will take the time to have minor probs corrected, wheels balanced, car washed etc... I'd be a bit on guard here.

agree with the above...
why buy a car that isnt perfect when there are plenty of perfect ones around.
i would wonder what else is wrong that you havent found! (doesnt sound to me like the car was well maintained)

Take the car and pay the $50-$100 to get it looked over by an independent mechanic of your choice. He will tell you if you should get it. If you are spending that much on anything 50-100 is worth spending.

I'd run. Sound like it's asking for trouble and the price doesn't seem like it's "too good to pass up".

I have to agree with the rest of the croud. Pass it up. There are many other S' out there that are in better condition and dont have that shake or wobble. Sounds to me like it was involved in a colision.

Thanks guys. Your suggestions really help me a lot. I brought the car to a shop that I always go to and have the mechanic check everything and test drive the s. It seems like it's really the tire balance problem at high speed driving. Easy fix but there's another problem. When driving at very low rpm, the car rattle a bit and make some unknown noise. Only happen at very low rpm tho. It seems like the noise is coming from the bottom but I really don't know. Is it a common problem that the s2000 has? I heard they have a recall on this. But again, I really dont know nothing. Can you guys give me some feedback again? The car is still under warrenty till this Saturday. If I know what the problem is then I can bring it in to the dealer and have they fix it for me before the warrenty expired. I think I will most likely buy the car. It's a bit rush for me. But I just can't wait to own a S. Btw, when I bring the car to dealer to fix this problem what else should I ask the dealer to do for me? Sorry for the long post. I really appreciated your help~

Dude, if its a rush, then don't buy it! I did that the first time that I purchased and ended up being very unhappy with my decision. I know exactly how you feel. You've finally decided to make the purchase and now you want it right away. Today. Now!

DON'T RUSH!!!! You'll feel so much better about the whole thing if you take your time and really find a car that your happy with. Who knows; this one may seem right, so you jump on it. Then you have till saturday under warranty. Maybe the dealer is booked and can't take it until next week. Suddenly you've got a bunch of repairs they won't cover because you missed your warranty be two days.

How long has this guy been driving on unbalanced tires? If he didn't care enough to fix that, what else has he not cared about? Did he care enough to check the oil at every fill-up?

Trust me, I was in the same boat. I've been there twice now. The first time turned into an utter nightmare because I was so excited about getting the car that I didn't take the time to consider the purchase carefully. The second time around, I kept my cool. I had it checked and driven by another owner and then flew in to see with an honest expectation that I might still decide not to purchase it.

Anyway, that's my completely unsolicited advice. Take it for what its worth. Good luck with however you decide to handle it. Remember, there are plenty of them out there. What seems like a great deal today will look expensive next week.
