Okay--

The info available on vtec.net has simply solidified the decision. I'm buying an '04 (now that my wife has given permission--I'd say "ha, ha", but it's pathetically true)...*

Lou and Kim have quoted me a pretty good sub-MSRP deal--anyone else out there having any (legitimate) luck?

Thanks once again,

Big Wave

*actually, she's a real gem--10 year anniversary this month, and every day worth it!**

**that might get me some toys from Rick's when she sees it (ha ha)...

The 04 S2000 will be one of the cars I check out when I finally put myself fully in the market for a new car (as soon as the end of the month or as late as next spring, I don't really have any pressing need just yet but if I see something I like at a good price I will take it). I've already test driven the 03 S2000, the 350Z, the RSX-S, TSX 6-speed, CL-S 6speed, Lancer Evolution VIII, and probably a couple others I can't think of right now.

I work for an Acura dealership (which explains all the Acuras I test drove). The same owners own two of the largest Honda dealerships in the nation (I think). I know I can get an 04 S2000 at MSRP from either of those dealers without much trouble. Maybe even do a bit better if I take something they have on the lot instead of exactly what I want (probably Suzuka blue).

I'd still rather talk to Jackie or Andy at JCH since I know them and give them my business if they're willing to hook me up a bit on price.

But again, a car purchase isn't my first priority right now so I will wait and see how the first batch of 04 S2k owners review theirs.

If you think it will help in negotiations you can show them this e-mail I received today from Rosen Honda in Gurnee, IL:

Kevin,

Honda has not provided pricing on the 04 S2000. We will be discounting them by $500 from MSRP. I'll be glad to help you anyway possible once we have more information. We do have an 03 S2000 if you are interested. Thank you for your request.

Sincerely,

Larry Momon

If you can, I would recommend that you wait until deep into the winter to buy an S2K...

It's just a couple of months away and pricing may chill into invoice territory...

Hey Rhino, there are no 2004 S2000s in San Antone at this time. They didn't even have one for the Auto Show this weekend. Between Benson, Gilman, and Gunn, I'd recommend Gunn. Benson and Gilman have little BS markups they add to the sticker. Gunn's first 2004 S2000 is due in on or about 20 October. Give Tyrone Thomas a call at Gunn (680-3371) and tell
him that Lee sent you. Later

Anyone know if there is a dealer holdback with the 2004 model? I think I saw a post saying that there is a 3% holdback for the dealers.....
