Hi LemonHead,

Out of curiosity, how does buying their car in Texas get them around the California emissions issues?

If they purchase a car outside of California, don't they have to prove that it meets CA standards before they can get the car registered in CA?

Just wondering,

Rhino,

Congrats on you pending purchase. Looks like you found a price you could live with and you're going to take the plunge. If you're happy with the deal then that's the final determining factor in a "fair deal".

Enjoy you're new ride!

LemonHead,

I agree, not inconceivable, but not something we ever really have to touch on an S2K. Maybe every once and a while on a Civic or Accord, but that is always up to the Dealer on that. Thanks for your input on this thread and if you know anyone looking for a new S2K, drop my name, I will treat them professionally and take care of them.

Phil

Are you familiar with how the sales tax works in out of state purchases?

Do you get hit in both states?

Thanks

From my understanding, generally you just pay the tax for the state in which you register. I bought a car in PA and paid no tax there, but paid the full (8% ) NY tax. You do not pay both state taxes.

That is correct - you pay the sales tax of whichever state you are registering the car in.
