I may not know a whole lot about issues with engine internals, but 2 years sounds like an awful long time. Not to mention the OP said that the noise starts 2-3k miles after an oil change, I would think a dropped valve would have to make noise all the time.

If somthing was rattling for 2 years and the car still ran, then I'm inclined to think its not a valve retainer. A wild guess would be the timing chain tensioner, or maybe a rod bearing?

Does this mean that you are running low on oil? Are you keeping the oil full? This car is known to consume oil up to and sometimes beyond 1 quart per few thousand miles. Engines low on oil can make the sound that you are referring to, and if this is the cause of the engine failure, you're not going to have an easy time convincing any warranty to pay for repairs.

Dealerships will always say the warranty may or may not cover the problem. They cannot possibly tell you over the phone that it is covered until they know exactly what the problem is. This is standard procedure. For it not to be covered, they will have to prove to you that something not covered under the warranty caused the damage. Best of luck to you.

Mmmm, not really. The car is not covered under Honda OEM warranty. I am assuming it is Honda Care. No need to jump to conclusions, though. Let's see what the dealer says.

I'm wondering if its just noisy valves or injectors? 2 years is a LONG time for something major to be hitting. Keep us posted! Don't worry, if its not something owner cause then you can fight them to cover it, we will help so keep us posted.

make the warranty cover it just keep on them they can make it work. alot of aftermarket warranties cover powertrain or bumper to bumper . so u said the noise only starts when you are near an oil change correct
