Default HELP! Pistons are colliding in Engine!

EDIT 6/7/07
I got everything replaced by the dealer a while back and it started to make the same noise today. I am bringing the car in tomorrow..they should replace it again shouldn't they?

I took my car (03 S2k) to the dealer today because its been making a very loud rattling noise in the engine bay. It sounds like 2 pistons (or metal objects) are banging into each other constantly and its been doing it ever since I bought the car 2 years ago whenever I come within 2-3 thousand miles from a oil change. I brought to the nearby honda service center near my house about a year ago, which provides the WORST service ever and scams (They disconnected my battery halfway last time and told me I needed to buy a new one). They just looked at it and said it could be normal because s2000's usually rattle, and then blamed it on my fram oil filter. SO..Today, when I brought it to another dealership, they told me it sounded really bad. They are taking my engine apart first thing tomorrow because they say it sounds like a piston is loose and is banging against the valves or something. Anyways, the question I wanted to ask is...They say my extended warranty on the car may or may not cover the cost. The Honda extended warranty should cover this right? I just have a feeling that the dealer is going to try and make stupid excuses to void the warranty.

I know this is a long post, but I need your responses please.

I posted this about a week ago and now they told me whats going on.

They told me the problem was low clearance on the valves, which is covered by the extended warranty. Today, the dealer calls me and tells me that the warranty will not cover it. The manager said it is the first time they denied a warranty while he was there. They said I had "modifications" to my car, so the warranty will not cover. I have had an AEM V2 CAI and Berk Testpipe for about a month, but the noise was made when I bought my car. Of course they wouldn't believe me. The manager gave me the number to the supervisor of the Honda Warranty company.
What do you guys think I should do? I don't think my "modifications" have much to do with low clearance on the valves.

EDIT!!! UPDATE 2/3/07
I went to the dealer and got a copy of my history and it states that I made a complaint about a noise comping from the motor in 2005. They didn't do anything about it then. Now, they give me an estimate 4,900 dollars to replace the whole engine because they say everything is worn. Isn't it the dealers fault for not finding the problem when I complained?

I'd call and complain. The law says that they would have to PROOVE that your aftermarket modifications indeed threw your valves out of alignment to deny your claim...

Go on the internet and do some research on the law, call, and act professional. If they hear you actually know what your talking about, they might reconsider your case.

If it's a "Hondacare" contract, they can deny a claim for almost any modification to the car. Rediculous but true.

Why not just remove those parts and then take it in? I really don't see how those parts would have any effect on what you are having issues with, but I've never dealt with Hondacare....

Thats a good point, I forgot about that.

If it is an extended warranty you are at the mercy of them (not the law), so you might be screwed.

You could try taking the parts and going to another dealer but chances are your claim is already in the system

I heard too many stories about Hondacare. I had bought the warranty when I got the car but after reading about things like this on this forum, I cancelled it and got a refund.

Hondacare is good for vehicles you don't modify. Like a family car, etc.

I had my vtec solenoid go bad on my accord at 50K (extended warranty) they said it had to do with "excessive vtec usage" I started tearing the service advisor a new one, Excessive vtec usage in a family car? WTF!?!?!?!?!

They covered it, when I started to threaten to contact corporate

Good luck to you and your case, hopefully the other dealership documented your complaint in the past, and now you can use it to your benefit.

How much would it cost to get something like this repaired?
