Default HELP! rock chip nightmare

hey guys, today, while going SPEED LIMIT on the i5, i heard a loud splat of sort and with a quick scan of my windshield, i see a 1 cm in diameter, 2 mm deep, rock chip on my baby! as ALL of you would be, i was pissed as hell! so with that, a quick couple questions...

HOPEFUL ALTERNATIVES

1. can i claim it under dealer warranty? (not likely?)
2. any way to fix this without getting a completely new windshield?

LAST RESORT

3. any cheap places in the OC or LA area? i go to UCI but live in the south bay area where LA is only a 20 min drive. an estimate would be great but regardless, any help would be nice. thanks for reading

Dunno about you. But my insurance will give me a brand new OEM windshield at no cost.

That would be the best bet if possible.

just take it to your insurance and it should be covered under your comprehensive. the best time to fix it is if its under the size of a quarter. that way they could just fill in the chip instead of replacing the whole thing.

i hate those rock trucks.

thanks to them, ive got a big missing paint chip in my paint right where a front lip spoiler would go. its like 1/4 in x 1/8 in of missing paint. and ive had the car less than 6 months!

It can't be avoided. Our cars huge the road man. I get little chips on my windshield, front bumper, hood and the sides. Battle wounds man. If it's not noticeable, I say leave it alone to save you all the troubles.

That's why I never take my S on the freeway unless it's unavoidable.
I take local streets that takes 15 min more than the freeway.
I DESPISE those construction site trucks carrying rocks, sands, etc.
If I spot one upfront, I make a turn into other streets.

I'm pretty sure your insurance will cover it. Some companies offer free-of-charge, no deductible repair for windshields.
Good luck.

My insurance (AAA) fixed my windshield for free and my wifes also.

Just call them and they will direct you.

When they fix it, its as if the chip disappears.

lol i would never take an extra 15 min trip to avoid a freeway. Maybe it's where i live, but i just try to give cars their space while following and avoid big trucks.

LMFAO, you turn onto another street when you see a truck in front of you? What if it was a dead end? Why not just slow down and stay 2 or 3 cars behind it, or better yet, pass it?

I understand why you want to avoid freeway, but the second one is extremeeee.
