DON'T DO IT!!!!

Consider yourself lucky to pay the price of gas/time driving 130 miles to see it and find out than be stuck with a POS. As stated earlier, previously flooded cars may not have problems at the moment, but when the rust develops its not going to be a fun day. Electrical nightmare!

Do what you think is best, but I would stay clear of this guy. When I was in the search of finally getting my s2000 (which i desperately wanted for 4.5 + years) I couldn't push myself to buy a used one, if i could have I would have had one years earlier. I really wanted an ap1, but by the time I could afford a new one I had to go with ap2. There was no other way that I could get that "satisfaction" of knowing my car wasn't ragged out. Find a owner that took pride in his ride, maintained it properly, and took care of it like it was his/her own child. That is the kind of used s2k you want. Good Luck with your search.

IMO, it's just not worth buying a car that was once flooded. Think about it as a long term decision.

I'd look elsewhere and find a better, non-salvaged, non-flooded S2K.

Put it this way: If my table saw drowned I would never start it up and stand in front of it.

And it only spins at 5500 RPM.

Coupled with the EXTREMELY shady selling process, it is very smart to run the other way. Nobody should EVER list a salvaged car without saying it up front. It is the single most important characteristic of a salvaged car, and he didn't tell you until your were ready to hand over the money.

I would also recommend you try to cool your emotions a bit as you continue looking. Ask all your questions up front, take notes, get it inspected. It is not worth dropping that much money on an unknown, and it is not worth risking your life (or others lives) in an improperly repaired car.

Be afraid --- be very afraid. A salvage title is ALWAYS a reason to pay about 50% of what the car would be worth otherwise. And with a flood-- even less. You will never be able to get a RELAIBLE acount of how high the flood came up on the car. It doesn't take much o a flood to really screw up the electrical system and electronics. And trouble is, problems with these things often take a good time to show up. And then, you have got pure junk. More of a flood (and remember, the car sits low) could foul up the engine, transmission, and rear end.

Buying a flood damaged car is like playing Russian Roulette with yourself. You ain't going to win.

Thanks,
Richard

AP1 = S2000s with the 2.0l motor. In North America, model years 00-03.
AP2 = S2000s with the 2.2l motor. Model years 04+
