I am running the Mugen ECU (soon to be combined with the Greddy Emanage). Understand something, manufacturers tune their ECUs with their products in mind. If you plan on getting a Mugen, get the Mugen header as well. Same logic applies when getting the Spoon ECU. I have yet to see a dyno chart of the Spoon ECU with mods, but many of us have used the Mugen ECU and are satisfied with it's results. You can also use the stock ECU and use a piggyback system such as the Apexi VAFC to fine tune, it's really $$ dependent on what you want and how you want to approach it.

For intake I'm thinking about Comptech...I like the looks and it wont suck the waters(I live upstate NY where I get pretty bad weather here..I have 2nd car for bad weather but still...)

For exhaust I was thinking about Fujisubu because it is full SS and pretty rare system. Also not loud and and looks very subtle...all for great price too $860

For intake and exhaust...I'm doin it all because of the sound and looks

for what VFAC does..go here

All the info is there

another question...

ive researched it a bit more and im left with another query, ive seen a really nice s2k that has a spoon ecu and also the a'pexi-i VAFC.
why would you want the VAFC if you already remapped your air-fuel-vtech etc?

besides that, ive arrived at getting the:
spoon air filter
spoon headers
spoon ecu
either spugen or hks dual cat back
17inch CH BBS wheels

and maybe the VAFC (when i find out what difference it would make)

looking good, and all in the budjet

Like jojipoji said, changing the rear end is the most bang for the buck mod.

I recommend the following:

A Spugen exhaust - pick a free flowing one and you'll get 98% of the performance of the best exhausts out there (the HKS is not one of them) at about 50% of the price - you can also customize it to your tastes.

A proper Cold Air Intake - The Mugen intake is quite nice, but with the dollars and hood cutting, there are better options for most people. AEM or Injen will be fine.

Mugen header - the Spoon header is pretty weak IMO. It just doesn't do the job. Even with tuning there's a serious drop off around 7000 rpm. The Toda header also looks to be an interesting option, but I'll reserve judgement till I see back to back dynos.

VAFC - the Mugen ECU is quite good too, but you need high octane gas. It may also need tuning with the other mods available.

Toda cams - wait to see some actual before and after dynos. I should be testing a car before and after these cams this weekend. Hopefully we'll see nice gains. I'd definitely recommend a VAFC if you do cams.

Even without the cams, you should see a good 15-20 hp at the peak, 25+ at 9000 rpm and gains of 10-15 lbs-ft of torque in the midrange. Combine this with a 4.44 rear gear and you'll have a substantially faster S2000.

I've dyno'd a number of HKS exhausts. They're heavy and they don't provide any gains.

The Mugen header does provide zero top end gains, but it provides large midrange gains and that will make you faster. I guarantee that if you take two cars and put the Mugen on one and the Spoon on the other, the Mugen car will be faster.

I've dyno'd enough examples of all these parts to be pretty confident in my assessments.

Thanks, cos i would go for the hks from what i had heard. not any more though...

Finally, you think the mugen headers,
with the spugen catback (does it have to be the titanium one? a bit pricy... the others i guess are the same but heavier...),
an AEM intake,
a Spoon throttle body,
a Spoon ECU (or u recommend mugen)
+ the apex-i VAFC???? or its not needed if i get the ECU from mugen or spoon

thanks alot again
