Default Help us develop a newbie guide

We are looking at a separate forum, for new and potential owners. Help us put together a thread, or various topics that the new folks need to know. These topics will be posted in our new forum. At this point the forum is not active, as we want to populate it.

Difference between the AP1 and AP2 (what years, glass vs. plastic window, engines, etc.)

S2000 vs. other popular choices (Boxster, Vette, G35, etc.)

What years colors combos are available...ie GPW w/ red int.

Page for TSBs and recalls (if any)

I've been trying to post this message for each new owner I run into (I'm trying to keep our insurance rates down):

VERY IMPORTANT!

If you have anything other than stock S-02s tires, you need to get a 245 width for the rears!

This is essential for safe handling. When we had our '00 and '01, I used to go through rears every 10-12,000 miles. My wife would get more from hers, usually 12-15,000. The fronts would normally last twice as long.

! ! ! I M P O R T A N T ! ! !

Remember, If you buy anything other than stock S-02s, you need to get a 245 tire for the rears! If the car you purchased does not have S-02s, double check the brands and sizes. (I hate mismatched tires)

Colin's post is a good example of why noting differences between AP1s ans AP2s is useful: my AP2 has 245s on the rear.

On this same general topic, I'd suggest some kind of gentle lecture about how this light-weight, high-powered RWD car can get away from you via oversteer. This seems especially important to stress to people who are used only to FWD. HPH

do I have to use premium gas....

how long is the break in period

when do I get my oil changed/when can I switch to synthetic

when should I get the tranny/diff fliud changed

It might be nice to have a price guide as well....updated with the lastest lease/buy pricing, everyone's always asking "what'd you pay for yours, this is what the dealer quoted me"

New owners list:
1. Be VERY careful with this car in the rain especially 00-03 owners
2. See no.1 Seriously
3. This car has a special oil filter . Do not let your idiot dealer install an accord filter. ALWAYS ask for the PCX filter!
4. Check for Rear bumper Defect issue.
5. Some cars use oil . Check yours often to find out which one yours is.
6. Be EXTREMELY careful with this car if you are used to FWD ones.
7.Oversteer (See no. 6)
8. This car is somewhat bad to get paint chips. Do not follow other cars closely and you may not worry with this issue.
9.Some cars have had diff failures. Change that diff fluid every two years!
10. Do NOT even think of driving this car in Snow without snow tires . If you do not listen to this one or no.1 you will be really Unhappy with your new redesign.

Simple stuff that not everyone knows, even to this day:

1. Where the gas filler door release is.
2. The secret compartment location.

Also, a link to building the PVC hardtop stand (much cheaper than the one Honda sells).

4. Check for Rear bumper Defect issue.
Hmm. Search is down. Is there a link to a thread on this? HPH
